Ingredient
- 1 loaf of bread (sourdough or white)
- 1 large onion, diced
- 4 celery stalks, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1 can stocked drained
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 eggs*
Note: Make sure the bread is stale when making this stuffing.
*The recipe can be made without using eggs if you're vegetarian.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9x13 inch (23x33cm) baking dish.
- Cut the bread into small cubes and distribute them onto a baking sheet. Toast the cubes in preheated oven until light golden crisp for about ten minutes. Be mindful not to over-burnside the bread too much. Cut the loaves into crumbs with your fingers then let cool down and meanwhile Prepare the other solid ingredients.
- In a saucepan, melt the tablespoon of butter on medium heat. Then saute onions, celery and garlic in it till fragrant for about 10-12 minutes.
- Cover your onion mixtures distributed in a tupperware or separate pot .pour in your stock cube altogether stirring a little then leave to set aside.
- Melt the remaining butter in a different pan, then use an electric blender on the softest setting to stir the onion mixture with it. When it's well combined, pour it into the container with the breadcrumbs. Mix well until all crumbs are covered with the onion/butter mixture....this should take only a two minute.
- Add salt, dried thyme and pepper, chicken broth until you see the mixture reach doughlike consistency enough to invoke some stuffing richness.
- Crack the egg in the stuffing mixture then use mixer at level three. Keep blending highly until ingredients have combined which will roughly take thirty seconds. Serve hot.
